Vintage Pittsburgh and some Smaller Towns

30-May-09

I love looking at old postcards of cities because there are always so many wonderful vintage details to be seen in them. In this one, I love the parasols of the ladies, the streetcars and horse drawn carriages, and the red and white striped awning on both sides of the street. Having grown up near [...]

Going to the Beach!

31-Mar-09

For people in the early part of the century, just as today, going to the beach was a fun way to spend a summer afternoon. I live in New Jersey, not all that far from the ocean, and going “down the shore” is still extremely popular with just about everybody here! Coincidentally, all of my [...]

Merry Christmas!

23-Dec-08

Merry Christmas to all of you! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and that you enjoy these vintage Christmas postcards as much as I do. Both were sent in 1910.

The postcard showing the little girl climbing up the steps with a candle has a charming handwritten note on the back of it, [...]

Vintage Postcard from Buenos Aires

08-Dec-08

Catherinette Postcard, 1922

26-Oct-08

This postcard was a purchase I made on impulse simply because it was so beautiful. It wasn’t until I looked more closely at it and noticed the “Vive Ste Catherine” printed on the top of it that I became curious about what exactly that was referring to.
After a bit of simple internet research, I discovered [...]

San Telmo Postcard #2

02-Oct-08

This is another of my favorite Buenos Aires postcards. This one also came from the Sunday street fair in the San Telmo area of the city, and was part of a huge, wonderful pile of antique postcards and religious cards for sale for very few pesos. I believe that the writing on the front shows [...]

San Telmo Postcard #1

01-Oct-08

This is a vintage post card I found in Buenos Aires. We were at the fair in a rather bohemian section of the city, called San Telmo, when we came across a stall full of antique papers. I thought this one was beautiful.
