These gorgeous fashions are straight out of the January 1942 issue of McCall’s magazine. The colors are vibrant, the dresses shapely and mature. There are a lot of narrow little belts here, too, and lots of matching hats. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I really like the look of the black dress worn with white pearls and gloves. But there are a lot of choose from, so see what you think:

Osh, such tiny little waists! The dresses are uniformly spare in use of fabric. And gloves on everybody except the women in shirtdresses and one of the evening dress models. I love the cut of the jacket on the lavender suit. Thanks so much for posting these!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed them. I usually like the fashions of the 1920’s more than anything; but when I found these, they were so gorgeous that they actually made me reconsider that.
Your scans are just a timeless treasure. I love this. I wish I could have something like this in my own collection.
I’m having a blast in your site. I love to work with graphic and multi media designs but only for my own personal use and for the scrapbooks and journals that I do at home as well as cards, and all that crafty stuff.
Just out of curiosity, you own these, correct? Are you thinking of ever selling these original pieces?
Thank you so much for posting these. I’ll continue to enjoy your site.

Thanks so much for your comments, Camy! Yes, I do own all of these scans; I collect vintage magazines from as far back as 1830 and the fashions in them are always one of my favorite parts. As far as selling them, I don’t know! I’ve debated about it before but when the time comes it is so hard to part with any of them.
Anyway, thanks again for stopping by and I’m so glad you enjoyed looking around. I haven’t updated in a while but I’m not going to let the website die!
