Just as the economy today is teaching many of us to turn to less expensive ingredients and to do away with things that aren’t necessities, in 1974 the United States was in the midst of a recession and changes were being made. This little recipe booklet is one example of that. However, it comes from a Canadian magazine, Chatelaine, and was found bound into the November 1974 issue. It is “Campbell’s Souper Tuna Handbook”, and is filled with fast, easy, economical recipes using both tuna, of course, and Campbell’s soup.
I will let you be the judge on just how “flavourful” the dishes look to you. I’m still debating on whether or not I’ll try any. Of course, the home cook of 1974 had many more of these types of recipes available to her, just by sending for the cookbook below.
Finally, here is the cover of the little free booklet these recipes came from. It features a photo of the Souper Tuna “Noodle Bake”, which is one of the recipes above. I hope you do find an easy to make, inexpensive new supper recipe here!

I don’t actually mind Tuna but in the picture at the top I wonder what the orange liquid is stuck in the middle of one of the dishes?
